Good afternoon and welcome to the Live Updates of the first leg clash between two of Ghana’s most decorated clubs, Kumasi Asante Kotoko versus Accra Hearts of Oak at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in the much anticipated Super 2 Clash.

After nearly three-months without local football in Ghana we welcome temporal break with the return of the nation’s flagship match dubbed clash of the Titans. The two legged friendly game involving Accra Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko SC is set to storm the local football fraternity.

The heated fracas that embraced the first ever meeting between Hearts of Oak SC and Asante Kotoko on August 24, 1958, personifies the on-field tension that awaits the football fraternity over the weekends.

Construction and renovation work at the Accra Sports stadium means, Kumasi will be Ghana’s football capital for the new week as the return leg is slated for same Baba Yara Stadium, a week after Sunday’s blockbuster of a match.

Paa Kwesi Faabin’s rich experience in Ghanaian football will have no place in deciding the outcome of the weekend’s clash with such matches following no form guide or statistics despite Henry Willington’s nine game at the topflight of Ghana football.

The pace of Emmanuel Gyamfi or the lightning quick feet from Patrick Razak will certainly strike at the Baba Yara spiced by the deafening noise from the Red fraternity or the costume-expert Accra Hearts of Oak fans.

On the statistical index, they have been a total of 268 premier league matches involving the two coaches set for Sunday’s clash. Paa Kwesi Faabin’s 258 games in the elite division produced a healthy 114 wins, losing some 80 matches in the process.

Compatriot and Sunday’s opposing coach, Henry Wellington, oversaw a paltry 9 premier league matches, winning 3 and losing some 4 games along the line.

Asante Kotoko SC’s manager, Paa Kwesi Faabin oversaw an impressive 534 goals in his managerial career in the premier league, enjoying 314 goals whiles shipping in some 220 goal in return. Henry Wellington, on the other hand, enjoyed 11 goals for his side whiles ceding 14 goals in return.

Defensively, Asante Kotoko SC boast of superior record, ceding 7 goals as against 14 for their guest in the first half of the 2018 premier league. Strangely, the Reds faced more accurate shots than their Rainbow guest in the league, 32 shots faced by Kotoko SC and 25 for Hearts of Oak.
