It’s sad our effort to locate kidnapped girls is not appreciated – W/R Police Cdr.

The Western Regional Police Commander, DCOP Vincent Redeemer Dedjoe is unhappy that the tireless work being done by the Police to locate the three kidnapped Takoradi girls is not being appreciated by the citizenry.

According to him, if citizens knew the sort of intelligence work that was done to even link the Nigerian kidnapper suspect, Samuel Udotek to the crime, they would have commended the security agency for not sleeping on their oars.

The Harbour city of Takoradi which is known to be peaceful in August 2018, woke up to the unfortunate and worrying news of the kidnapping of Priscilla Blessing Bentum, Ruth Love Quayeson on December 4th and Priscilla Mantsebeah Koranchie on December 21st.

Several months after the sad incident, the location of the young girls is yet to be known, with mounting pressure on the police each passing day to locate their whereabouts.

But DCOP Redeemer Dedjoe while addressing the management and staff of the Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly on the state of security in the region on Thursday said his outfit is doing everything possible within their capability to rescue the victims, urging the public to bear with them.

“It is very unfortunate that the work being done by the Police in a way is not being appreciated by citizens of Takoradi. Why am I saying this, in the first instance kidnapping cases all over the world become like a mystery, intelligence work must be done to get to the bottom of issues? In some countries, it takes over 20 years to get to the bottom of issues of this nature. I’ve stated once on radio that the best thing we have done is to get the one who was responsible and he’s still in our custody. If the one responsible for the crime is not ready to tell you what he’s done with the people it is important for you to take time to get information from the person.

He added: “You are all crying why can’t we do this why can’t we do that if we beat him and he dies you will not be held responsible I would be held for murder. If he dies we shall not be able to get any information from him, so in a nutshell, we are still working on this issue. This is somebody who was staying with you people for more than six years, you didn’t know what he does, you relate with him but you never knew that he’s responsible for most of the things we’re grappling with now. And if we have done the job at least to link him to the crime you should at least appreciate our effort, and if you know the intelligence work that was done before this boy was linked with the kidnap you should know that we are not sleeping, we are concerned because we are also parents. The kidnapped girls by His grace and mercy one day we shall get them.”
