Controversial coach J.E Sarpong has stated that Asante Kotoko will fail to deliver in their CAF Confederations campaign.
The Porcupine Warriors will engage Congolese side CARA in the preliminary round of this year's CAF Confederations Cup this month while Aduana Stars will square off against Libyan side Al Tahadi in the elite-tier of Africa club competition.
In assessing the chances of both clubs ahead of their respective Africa campaign, coach Sarpong asserted that the Fire Boys have a chance of making a meaningful impact in the competition but was not so sure for the Porcupine Warriors.
“Aduana Stars are little bid ahead of Kotoko in terms of team build up. Aduana Stars made good signings but I don’t particularly know the recruitment policy for Kotoko,” Sarpong told Angel FM.
He added: “During the WAFU tournament both Steve Polack and Yussif Abubakar were all at the tournament looking for players, if you are venturing into Africa you need to get some at least three foreign players from defense to attack as well as the goalkeeping department.
“If you have not done that and you go into Africa especially for Kotoko and perform against teams like TP Mazembe and CARA, it’s certainly going to be a tall order.”
