Journalists Are Scheming To Get Me Out Of Office -Minister

The Minister of Youth and Sports Akua Sena Dansua has alleged that some persons in the media have set an agenda to get her out of office.

Speaking at a meet the press series on Thursday July 29, the North Dayi Member of Parliament said some journalists tend to blow issues regarding her Ministry out of proportion in an attempt to cause her dismissal just like other appointees have suffered.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports has been severely criticized for the hiccups that occurred when government sponsored over a 1000 people to South Africa for the just ended 2010 Fifa World Cup.

Although the Minister has admitted that there were some lapses in organizing the trip for the World Cup, she strongly believes that there is a calculated attempt by some journalists to ensure that she is kivked out of office.

“Even in South Africa, I came out to say that there were some lapses that were caused by certain people and also certain arrangements that didn’t work out. I admitted it and even in my speech here I said there were a few hiccups but these hiccups didn’t mar the excellent performance of our stars”. “There are people in the media, my own colleagues in the media who think they can start the campaign to sack me as they have done to previous ministers. That is why I am saying that such people are blowing the issues out of proportion”.

The Minister also hinted that her outfit is trying to resolve the issue regarding the payment of taxes on bonuses for the players and officials of the Senior national team the Black Stars.

The Internal Revenue Service and the Ministry of Sports have disagreed over why taxes should be paid on the bonuses paid to the Black Stars during the recent 2010 Fifa World Cup in South Africa.
