........ find something better to engage his minds on - and leave the NPP alone
The unwarranted attacks and bashing of NPP by Dr Wereko-Brobbey should be given the needed response by every well meaning NPP faithful. It is sad that such a prodigal political element like him should arrogate to himself the power to derail every well meaning agenda that the party and its leadership take. At times one wonders what locus he has to direct the affairs of the party; especially from such a person who has been a political oscillator swinging from one fair weather environment to the other since 1996.
I believe one person who has been pampered a lot in the political discourse of the Danquah-Dombo-Busia traditional since time immemorial is Tarzan and this baseless pampering has made him a self –elevated element ‘chameleoning’ without manners just for the sake of his belly. It is time he is checked and told to mind his own business because we do not need the advice of characters like him.
What has broke the camel’s back for some of us to square up with him was his attempted effort to elevate Asiedu Nketia above Dr Bawumia in his “clueless” and “masterful” in respect Dr Bawumia and Asiedu Nketia.
Since December 17, 2012 he has been giving his so called unguarded ‘advice’ which if not for any selfish interest, should not have come from someone who describes himself as NPP member. One wonders of what interest he has for the NPP when the bottom-line of his every comment has been to take the party to the gallery.
Wereko-Brobbey should not forget that some of us do not have a short memory of how he has conducted himself on the corridors of power since his return to Ghana as a professional energy specialist and a political revolver. He is someone who has constantly depended on the fortune of his late uncle Victor Owusu who some of us in the NPP pay glowing tribute to. No wonder in some of his submissions, he endorsed it as a nephew of Victor Owusu. And so what if you are the nephew of Victor? What have you done to improve the political fortune of the man you associate with?
The question is what significance does it serve anyone who believes in the independence of his minds in contributing to national building to refer to people of his lineage when what he constantly does is to dent the image of the very institution his uncle contributed in building. If not for any selfish interest then I do not see the rationale for it.
In his “NPP should let sleeping dogs lie” he castigated the leadership of the party by blaming them of their “unpardonable and inexplicable failure” which to him cannot “atone for the cardinal sins of the NPP leadership” to the extent of inciting the anger of the party faithful to the leadership by saying that they were “left down through effective policing of the count”. What did he do as a person to help project the party in the 2012 elections? I believe as a founding member, nothing stops him to engage the energies of the party in this trying time. What he finds cozy to do is to undermine the party whilst finding a way to align with the new fair weather power base in the mist of his Ghana at 50 issue.
If we are to list “abominable performers” and “knee jerk self promotional gimmicks” players, who have negatively cause the fortune of the NPP, then he will surely lead that list. I believe he has no moral efficacy to taunt the NPP to “…square the circle or cut the comic tragedy”. To many meaningful NPP’s and Ghanaians at large he is the greatest comic tragedy to our cause politically.
If he thinks that his “reasoning” holds “logic” and does not suffer the approbate and reprobate syndrome then he will not at one breath describe the Electoral Commission’s activities as “manipulative machinations” and “damning failures on the verification of the electoral register” and sees the civil action of the NPP to challenge such manipulations as unwarranted, logic-less, and clueless when he himself notes that there is “incontrovertible evidence of widespread official manipulation and massaging of both the voting process and the outcome”.
It is important to stress to Dr Wereko-Brobbey that the NPP did not “left burglars” into their homes to steal their votes and that is why we are challenging the outcome so if he has problems with that then he better keep quiet and leave the NPP to fight its own course.
It is recalled that Dr Wereko-Brobbey after losing his fair weather rights during the early 1990’s and had his Radio Eye closed down found safe havens in the struggle for deepening democratic principles in the Alliance for Change in 1995. A political chameleon as he has been, he left the NPP to form the UGM for the 1996 elections and continued to no avail to dent the chances of NPP. Without manners and moral conscience he sneakily found himself into the good books of President Kufuor, courtesy Victor Owusu who asked Kufour to give his nephew a space in his administration.
Incidentally, I was present (when the NPP Youth met President Kufour for the first time) when Dr Wereko-Brobbey came to see Kufour in the early days of his administration when [Kufour] was operating from the State House and you could read from Tarzan’s face that he was without moral conscience and that is what he has been all while.
Knee-jerky juicy sucker Tarzan should mind his own business, for the NPP have better informed and serious leaders to champion the cause of the party; for even if the case did not go our way the NPP will forever be formidable and resolute in championing the course of constitutional democracy in Ghana and beyond.
