Kidnapped girls: It's an 'organized chaos' between Police and BNI - Kweku Baako

In an attempt to unravel the mystery surrounding the kidnapping of three girls, confusion and conflicting reports have been created, according to Kweku Baako

Beginning of the chaos

The Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department, COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah held a press conference to indicate that they know the whereabouts of the three girls from Takoradi who were kidnapped last year.

The CID boss confidently said, “they are safe...very soon they will be brought back home”.

This raised the hopes of family members and the general public. However, days after this hope was dashed as family members had not yet seen or heard from their children.

The Confusion continuous

This situation was somehow worsened when a Daily Guide report stated categorically that the girls have been found and are receiving treatment in Accra.

According to the Daily Guide, the girls were bought from Takoradi to Accra and “were transported to a BNI Clinic around the 37 Military Hospital in Accra for preliminary medical care”.

However, the police dismissed Daily Guide's report insisting that the girls have not been rescued (don't forget the same Police CID had said they knew the whereabouts of the girls at a press conference).

So whose report are we going to believe?

It is in view of this that the Managing Editor of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Kweku Baako says the presidency should step in.

He is wondering why the BNI is not responding to whether or not the children are in their custody.

"I am very disappointed . . . the Daily Guide story from my own checks is doubtful validity…the girls are not in the custody of any state agency as we speak. The police have officially spoken denying the publication. At this stage, if the BNI can’t talk, the Ministry of Interior should talk.

"We should be spared this confusion; organized chaos, the public don’t deserve that. That is why perhaps now if the Ministry of interior won't talk, the presidency should get all of them together and whip them up; there is something missing; there is confusion now. We shouldn’t be where we are; it’s a disgrace," he bemoaned during a panel discussion on Joy Newsfile programme, Saturday.

"Do you have the girls or you don’t have them; let us know or the search continues," he told the BNI.
