Nana Kwabena Gyamera Oyiakwan II, Chief of Adansi Kwapia and elder brother of the late Samuel Aboagye a former Deputy Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) who died in the August 6, 2025 Ghana Armed Forces helicopter crash has alleged that Samuel had always doubted the paternity of his three-year-old child.

According to him, the mother of the late Samuel Aboagye is aware that her son had expressed doubts about the paternity of the child.

Speaking to the media after court proceedings on November 11, 2025, Nana Oyiakwan said, “When the helicopter crash happened, our younger brother Samuel Aboagye was among the victims. When the bodies were taken to Accra, the families were asked to identify them through DNA tests. I went there and called his wife, who was in America, to bring the child for the DNA and she agreed but she never did.

“They later took my DNA sample, as well as samples from my mother and another child Samuel had with a different woman, to help identify the bodies. But when Samuel was alive, he doubted the paternity of this particular child and our mother is aware of that. So, when his wife refused to bring the child for the DNA test, we were not convinced.

“After the funeral, she asked that we perform all the traditional rites and let her return to her family house but when we requested to conduct the DNA test, she refused.”

Family of late Samuel Aboagye drags widow to court over refusal to conduct DNA test on child

Meanwhile, the family of the late Samuel Aboagye has dragged Mrs Abigail Aboagye to the Obuasi District Court, seeking an order to compel her to submit the child for a DNA test.

The case revolves around Mrs Aboagye’s refusal to hand over their three-year-old child to the family for the test.

During the court session, Mrs Aboagye’s legal representatives reportedly filed a motion asking the court to dismiss the family’s request.

The Obuasi District Court has adjourned the case to December 23, 2025, for further hearing.
