Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame, has urged Ghanaians to revel in the country’s democratic credentials and guard them jealously.
In an interview with JoyFM on Christmas Day, December 25, 2024, Godfred Dame sent seasonal felicitations to the citizenry.
The Attorney General appealed to Ghanaians to use Christmas to seek God’s intervention in the impasse that has rocked the country following the December 7 elections.
He hoped that the unity and peace associated with Jesus Christ would manifest in the lives of every Ghanaian and culminate in peace and unity across the country.
“At Christmas, it is my wish that the peace of Christ would indeed permeate every home and resonate in the minds and hearts of the people,” Mr. Dame said.
“I pray that we, as a people, will once again demonstrate our tenacity and responsibility for peace by ensuring that all post-election matters are resolved with balance and in law.
“Let us ensure that the spirit of Christmas—peace, love, and togetherness—guides our actions in the coming days and beyond,” he concluded.
He reminded the country of the importance of peace and tranquillity as the bedrock for the country's development, admonishing Ghanaians to take pride in the country’s impressive democratic record.
Godfred Dame noted that Ghanaians demonstrated their commitment to peace during the 2024 elections and that it is imperative that all outstanding issues from the polls are resolved amicably.
“Democracy is a gift that many nations are still struggling to achieve. It is a system we have embraced as a way of life, and we should take pride in what we have achieved,” he said.
“We have determined for ourselves a leader for the next four years, and it is essential that we resolve any disputes peacefully to further consolidate our democracy,” he added.
