Lutterodt calls for disclosure on Commonwealth Games scandal

Veteran sports administrator and financier, George Haldane-Lutterodt has demanded a full disclosure of the report of the 2018 Commonwealth Games Investigative Committee set up by the government to probe the circumstances which led to the over a dozen Ghanaians being deported by the Australian government for not been eligible in the country during the games.

He noted that failure to be transparent with the report would be a bad precedent and would fester further wrong doings on the part of some unscrupulous persons to indulge in the same criminality which has embarrassed the country.

“Where is the committee report, where is the BNI and CID report which we were told are the bodies investigating the Gold Coast debacle which befell us, we need to see the report for the good of this country”, he remarked to this paper in an interview in Accra recently.

His queries follows the clearance of the Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports, Pius Hadzide and the board chairman of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Kwadwo Baah Agyemang by the Presidency back to their post respectively.

According to him for the fact that these two have been cleared by the report and another suspended officer, Robert Sarfo Mensah a former NSA Director General, is still under suspension makes the outdooring of the report a sine qua non.

“ This visa racketeering and fraud on the part of some sports administrators have been going for ages and if we want to nip it in the bud the need for transparency is very paramount”, he muttered.

He called for a more serious attitude towards revealing the names and shaming those behind the Commonwealth Games disgrace which brought the whole nation’s integrity into disrepute.

The former president of the Ghana Athletics Association?(GAA), now Peace Ambassador, called on the President to ensure the full disclosure of the report to instill discipline and integrity into our sporting fraternity.
