Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Mfantseman, Kenneth Kelly Essuman, has called for a Municipal Security Council Meeting over the shooting at Mankessim during a coronation on Saturday.
In an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem on Monday, Mr Essuman explained that, his reason for calling the meeting was to be briefed by the police in the municipality on the incident.
“I don’t have the full details as to what happened, so I have called for an emergency meeting this morning, to allow the police explain to me how the whole issue started and what needs to be done moving forward,” he said.
What was supposed to be the ‘outdooring’ of queen mother, Nana Araba Otua II, turned bloody when two people, including an officer of the Bureau of National Investigations and a civilian, were shot dead by some unknown assailants during the procession.
Seven other people, including a Police Inspector, William Nyarko, also sustained varying degrees of injuries.
According to the Mankessim Divisional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police Owoahene Acheampong, five people in connection with the shooting have been arrested and are assisting with investigations.
