The Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has lauded the achievements of the ruling government after almost 8 years in power.
According to a report by citinewsroom.com, Dr Bawumia, while highlighting the achievements of the administration he serves in, asserted that they have fulfilled and delivered about 80% of their manifesto promises from both 2016 and 2020, despite facing economic challenges and a pandemic.
Addressing the media on Sunday, August 25, 2024, Dr Bawumia stated that the figures and records demonstrate the NPP government’s capabilities as compared to those of their predecessor.
He said, “I think that we have a very pretty record in terms of honouring our promises. We’ve done some work to look at our 2016 manifesto, and what proportion of those manifestos we’ve honoured, and 83 percent have been honoured. And when you look at the 2020 manifesto, 2020, even in the midst of all these crises, we are fulfilling or we’ve fulfilled 80 percent of our 2020 promises in our manifesto.”
Dr. Bawumia further stated that their opponent, the NDC, has failed to meet or fulfil their promises.
He said that the erstwhile John Mahama administration only achieved 28% of the party’s manifesto promises, despite making numerous commitments to the public.
“My opponent in his 2012 manifesto when he became the president, he only fulfilled 28 percent of his 2012 manifesto, 280 promises, he didn’t fulfil 203 of the 280 promises. So, I think we have a better record as far as fulfilling promises,” he added.
