Mensah-Bonsu impressed various observers during the NBA's summer league, but the talent-filled Mavericks did not have space on their roster for the 6-foot-9 forward.

Mensah-Bonsu impressed various observers during the NBA's summer league, but the talent-filled Mavericks did not have space on their roster for the 6-foot-9 forward. Mensah-Bonsu's former teammate Danilo (J.R.) Pinnock was selected number one overall in the NBA Developmental League's Expansion Draft by the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. Pinnock played with the NBDL's Arkansas RimRockers last season and was on Washington Wizards' summer league team but was not invited to training camp.
