One of the constituencies which was tipped by many political watchers to be keenly contested was that of the Cape Coast North Constituency .
The battle was not just who becomes the political head of the constituency but which camp garners the best of votes in order to be well positioned to influence delegates in choosing their preferred choice as parliamentary candidate for the party in 2020 as some individuals are already lacing their boots to contest deputy education minister Barbara Asher Ayisi for the party’s slot to Parliament.
EIB Network’s Central Regional correspondent, Kwaku Baah Acheamfour reports that the god father of the deputy minister, Stephen Kojo Arhin, has snatched the chairmanship slot from the incumbent Cecilia Nana Assan well known as Nana Amissah .
Kojo Arhin, popularly known as “Wewebi” a lotto agent polled 236 votes to beat the seasoned politician Cecilia Nana Assan who polled 189 votes with one John Sagoe polling 14 votes of the total vote cast.
The newly Elected Chairman Stephen Kojo Arhin has pledged his commitment to work with all to unite the party in retaining the constituency seat for the party come 2020.
A committee he said will soon be set up to help address all grievances in the constituency thereby bringing on board people who have deserted the party due to some unhealthy issues in the past .
