Accra, May 26, GNA - A memorandum has been submitted to the Ministry Education and Sports for approval and confirmation of the venue of this year's National Sports Festival scheduled to take place in July.

Dr Henry Augustine Pufa, Chairman of the Board of the National Sports Council who disclosed this to the GNA Sports in Accra said the Ministry is therefore to decide on either the regional capitals of Tamale or Cape Coast to host the Festival.

He complained about the 10 per cent gate proceeds paid to his National Sports Council, which he said was woefully inadequate thereby reducing the moral of the workers.

The Board Chairman said the Council lacks its compliment of coaches, technical and administrative staff as well as lack the needed financial support to implement its programmes.

Dr Pufa stressed the need for the Ghana Education Service and the Sports Council to complement each other's activities in the promotion and development of sports in the country.

He also suggested a programme to sensitise Physical Education personnel to assist the Sports Council to sustain sports in the country. Dr Pufa called on the workers of the Sports Council to exhibit team-work, be punctual at work, have attitudinal change to duty and ensure open administration to improve upon their productivity and ensure grassroots participation in sports.

The Board Chairman called for pragmatic measures for the maintenance of all stadiums and its other sporting facilities and said there was the need for an upward adjustment of the salaries of the workers of the Council to boost their morale and work habits. 26 May 05
