Pro-government militia group, Delta Force, has described as false, reports that a member of the group has been arrested in connection with the kidnapping of two Canadian ladies at Ahodwo in Kumasi.

The Canadians were rescued on Wednesday, 12 June 2019 at Akyease in the Asokore Mampong municipality of the Ashanti Region after eight days in captivity.

News of the arrest of Seidu Yakubu Mba of the Delta Force said to be the ringleader of the kidnappers has gone viral on social media.

Mr Seidu Mba was allegedly among the Delta Force members who stormed the Kumasi Metropolitan Authority Court in 2017 to free their colleagues who, at the time, were standing trial for assaulting the Ashanti Regional Coordinator.

However, a statement signed by Mohammed Seidu, National Director of Delta Force said the suspect has never been known to the group.

“The Delta Force Group in the Ashanti Region would like to state unequivocally that the said culprit (Seidu), has never been a member of our group and he’s not part of us.

“Consequently, the group, thus, distances itself from the conduct and operations of this man called Seidu.

The leadership of the Delta Force group in Ashanti Region would like to assure the general public that we are a law abiding group and we would not engage ourselves in such kidnapping operation,” the statement read.
