One of Ghana's giant local construction films, Comet Construction Company Limited, has given assurance that it will hand over the ongoing construction of market development projects at Odawna and Mallam markets to the government in the next few days.

The two projects, which were at the completion stage, according to the management of the construction company, would be handed over to the government before the stipulated time.

Speaking with the media, the Director for NKA Consult, a consulting firm for Comet Construction Company Limited on the two projects, Dr. Andrew Kwablah, disclosed this when he took Minister for Local Government, Decentralization, and Rural Development, Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah, on a tour of the two projects in Accra on Thursday, July 18, 2014.

The tour of Martin Korsah was aimed at assessing the progress of the projects under the government of Ghana.

Addressing the journalists, the minister ordered that the projects be handed over to both the Korle Klotey and the Ablekuma North Municipalities for control.

At Odawna Market, the minister praised Comet Construction Company Limited for its timely progress and urged them to expedite the project, aiming for completion by the end of July, instead of the initially scheduled end of August.

The minister directed Comet Construction Company Limited to immediately evict those who have occupied the premises of the project at Odawna market without authorisation.

He highlighted the importance of providing traders with access to the new facilities promptly.

Adjei-Mensah Korsah has directed District Assemblies to enforce regulations preventing traders from using roads as trading facilities.

"I am warning the encroachers and traders selling on Accra's pavements to cease their unlawful activities immediately," he warned

He emphasized the necessity of keeping roads free for movement.

"The roads are constructed for free flow of movement, and it has to be so," the minister stated.

Comet Construction Company Limited is committed to meeting the revised deadline, ensuring that the Odawna market facility will be ready for handover to the government by the end of July.
