The governing New Patriotic Party(NPP) has said the Senior Minister, Yaw Osafo Marfo has committed no crime to have warranted his resignation.
The Senior Minister continues to face a barage of criticisms over his controversial comment relating to the deportation of Chinese illegal mining queen Aisha Huang.
The opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) has been vocal in demanding the resignation of Mr Osafo Marfo describing his comment as an embarrassment to the country.
However in an interview with Starr News Ibrahim Alhassan, the Director of Communications of the NPP Yaw Buaben Asamoah stated that although the Senior Minister could have better articulated his position, calls for him to resign is unfair insisting the Minister has been misunderstood.
“I think he’s been misunderstood, I don’t think he’s committed a crime, I don’t think it’s fair to insist that he should resign. He’s one of the pillars of this administration so I know that the NDC mischief makers will love to see him out of government.
“But I think that if we sit back and look carefully at the context and accept that he may have put it better we will disinflate the emotions. What I can say for a fact is that there’s no link between Aisha Huang and our economic relationship with China.”
