Pelosi observes 400th Anniversary of slave trade
The Speaker of US House of Representatives is visiting the Cape Coast Castle and Elmina Castles to commemorate the 400th year since the enslaved people were forced to leave their homeland and sent to the US.
Nancy Pelosi is part of a delegation comprising members of the Congressional Black Caucus who will pay homage to the sacrifices of African ancestors in building the US.
The visit forms part of the “Year of Return, Ghana 2019” celebrations.
The event is a major landmark marketing campaign targeting the African-American and members of the diaspora to mark 400 years of the first enslaved African arriving in Jamestown Virginia.
