Police at Tamale have confirmed carrying out a search at the private home of the Northern regional director of elections of the opposition NDC party, Rashid Tanko Computer after he allegedly threatened an entertainment show host of Tamale based Sagani Television, Sadiq Cyber, with a firearm over a young lady he is said to be an extramarital affair with.

Rashid Tanko who’s married is also former regional director of Youth Employment Agency who faced tough resistance from a section of the party youth prior to his appointment to that position.

Police said he is currently being investigated for besieging the house of the presenter with a gun in a company of two unidentified others and threatened him with murder for having an affair with his girlfriend.

The police source did not disclose the identity of the said girl lover but local media which first reported the incident identified the lady as one Samira Seidu, a known NDC party fanatic who played a major role campaigning for the party on social media in the last elections.

Speaking to Kasapa News, the Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer ASP Mohammed Yussif Tanko said the incident happened on Sunday, the last day on the month of July at about 9 pm, as per the statement from investigators.

According to ASP Yussif, police received a complaint about the incident on Monday, August 1, 2017, after the victim came to allege that the NDC executive had attacked him with a gun over his relationship with a lady who he said was his girlfriend.

He added that Tanko computer was invited to the station where his statement was taken and later released on inquiry bail. ASP Yussif Tanko said the suspect denied the allegations and a team of investigators who raided his home and rummaged through his belongings did not find a gun but indicated investigations were still underway.

Local media also reported that Mr. Computer seized mobile phone of the TV presenter and warned his mother to advise him to stay away from his lover whom he had noticed is lately putting up strange attitude including ignoring his phone calls and skipping their regular romantic outings.

Kasapa News has reached out to Samira Seidu for comment and has not yet received a response.

Rashid Tanko, however, responded to Kasapa New’s request for reaction saying it was a concoction to divert pressure on government and described the story as “rubbish”.

“It’s a makeup story; Forget about them. It’s a mischievous thing. What kind of rubbish is that? When you say someone has threatened someone with a gun, that’s a lie. I’m even in Accra in a meeting; ignore them, just ignore them. They just want to make some news. I’m sure this our business, if they just want to divert some pressure from the government they bring up certain things. Ignore them”, Computer parried.
