President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reinstated Deputy Minister for Youth and Sport, Pius Enam Hadzide, and this takes immediate effect.
He was suspended following a visa scandal at the last Commonwealth in April, involving 60 Ghanaians, who reportedly attempted to enter Australia using false pretenceA statement issued in Accra and signed by Eugene Arhin, Communications Director, Jubilee House, said Kwadwo Baah Agyemang, the Chairman of the Board of the National Sports Authority, who was also suspended, has been asked to return to his office.
The President’s decision followed the exoneration of the pair by police investigations – they were not found to have engaged in any wrongdoing.
The statement said the report of the investigations carried out by the Criminal Investigations Department into allegations of impropriety on the part of the two officials, submitted to the President last Friday “contained no adverse findings against them”.
