The Running Mate of the NDC, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, joined other bigwigs of her party at the funeral service of a former Member of Parliament for Ketu North, Modestus Yao Zebu Ahiable.
In a post shared via her X handle, she indicated how she, together with the other leaders of the party, showed up for the burial service of their late former colleague.
Modestus Ahiable was MP for Ketu North between 1993 and 2005 and once also served as Ghana’s Ambassador to Benin.
"I joined the NDC delegation in Dzodze yesterday to pay our last respects to H.E. Modestus Yao Zebu Ahiable.
"H.E. Ahiable served as the MP for Ketu North from 1993 to 2005. He was also Ghana’s Ambassador to the Republic of Benin, Volta Regional Minister, and Volta Regional Chairman of the NDC, among others.
"May the soul of H.E. Ahiable and all other departed souls rest peacefully in the Lord’s bosom," she wrote.
Her attendance at the funeral marks her first official public appearance since being announced as the NDC's 2024 running mate on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at the UPSA Hall in Accra.
Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang's nomination is her second, having previously been named running mate to John Dramani Mahama, the NDC flagbearer, in 2020.
Some of the notable NDC leaders who were present at the funeral were Fifi Kwetey, NDC General Secretary; Doe Adzaho, former Speaker of Parliament; Abla Dzifa Gomashie, MP for Ketu South; Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, MP for North Tongu; and Edem Agbana, NDC parliamentary candidate for Ketu North.
