Referee Justice Adu Poku has insisted that the leadership of the RAG were bought local gin (Akpeteshie) to clear 14 out of the 80 referees who were filmed perpetrating acts of corruption in the Anas Aremeyaw Anas ‘Number 12’ video.

The indicted match official comment comes after 14 referees were exonerated by RAG for no wrongdoing last week Monday.

According to him, the leadership of the referee’s association are corrupt and accepted ‘akpeteshie’ to exonerate some of the referees.

“Those they have exonerated are the referees who buy local gin (Akpeteshie) for them to drink. After drinking they hail the young referees ‘that’s my boy’ because they hold the key to their future,” Adu Poku told Kumasi based Nhyira FM.

“Moments after granting an interview here (Nhyira FM), most of the leaders called me complaining that I shouldn’t have granted any radio interview because I was one of those they wanted to exonerate to make the number 15.” He added.

“But I was not ready for that because I had always said that if I am found among the referees in the Anas video as one of those taking bribes, I will humbly resign. So I didn’t need anyone to exonerate me.

“A member of the committee called to tell me that because I have insulted them publicly they wouldn’t exonerate me. He said since I have granted that interview, they can’t defend me. Hence their decision.”

He insisted that whatever happened in Accra was just a mere formality as the RAG had taken all their decisions even before moving out of Kumasi.

“Whatever happened in Accra as part of their investigation before they exonerated the 14 referees was just a mere formality. They had their reports drafted already before moving to Accra.”

Retired Sillas Okine, recently blasted the Chairman of the RAG Joe Debrah on Happy FM claiming those referees exonerated were his ‘boys’ hence the decision to declare them guiltless which confirms referee Adu Poku’s accusations.
