Actress Christiana Awuni has stated that Hajia4Reall deceived many young women with her lavish lifestyle, leading them to hope they could attain similar wealth.
According to the actress, many women were swayed by Hajia4Reall's opulence and engaged in illicit activities to also accumulate riches, a situation she finds concerning.
Speaking on UTV's United Showbiz hosted by MzGee and monitored by GhanaWeb, Awuni said, "Today, she's convicted; tomorrow, it could be someone else because many people are involved in such activities. God will expose all those implicated. It's wrong to pursue wealth through illegitimate means. She rushed into luxury, and it didn't end well for her.
"This should serve as a lesson to everyone engaged in such activities. It's heartbreaking that this happened to her. I was saddened when I heard because she's a nice girl who could have achieved great things the right way. She deceived many women.
"She led many into temptation. I'm sure they'll learn from this now. Her lavish lifestyle led many astray. I was even shocked by her extravagance. Let's be cautious. Not everything that glitters is gold."
Her statement comes after the socialite was sentenced to one year and one day in the United States for a romance scam.
Meanwhile, radio presenter Nana Romeo advised women to scrutinize the source of their partners' funds. Expressing concern over Hajia4Reall's tainted reputation, he suggested that this could have been avoided with proper due diligence.
“The stigma will haunt her for the rest of her life,” said Nana Romeo. “Already, people say all manner of things even when you’re living your normal life; how much more when you’ve been caught and convicted? That is my worry. I’m worried about whether or not she can still be bubbly and live her life.”
He continued: “She mentioned her baby daddy as having introduced her to this. I want to advise women that if a man spends on you so much, be concerned about the source of his money. Some women are unperturbed about that; all they care about is you’ve given them money. But you should know the source of the money in order to be safe.
“Sometimes, just investigate because you may not be told about the source. Let this guide you; Hajia is out there, we don’t know about the baby daddy, so, don’t just be focused on the money. Be concerned about the source as well so you can save your life.”
About the scam
Hajia4Reall was extradited to the United States from the United Kingdom for her alleged involvement in a $2 million romance scam, locally known as 'sakawa,' targeting older, single Americans in May 2023.
In February 2024, Hajia4Reall pleaded guilty to the $2 million romance scam case. According to the United States Attorney's Office website, the socialite pleaded guilty to one count of conspiring to receive stolen money.
Alleged involvement of Hajia4Reall's baby daddy
Court details and reactions on Hajia4Reall's 'baby daddy's involvement in the romance scam have emerged. Hajia4Reall's lawyers submitted documents to court alleging her ex-partner, Luvman Allison, used her accounts to receive funds from unknown sources. According to her lawyer, Luvman engaged in fraudulent activities while on probation after a previous arrest in the US.
The documents claim Luvman deceived Hajia4Reall into thinking they had a genuine relationship, exploiting her trust to involve her in his financial schemes. Despite realizing the wrongdoing, she continued due to fear for her safety and her daughter's. Hajia4Reall admitted knowing it was wrong but felt pressured to comply.
