On Tuesday, September 12, Nigerian rapper Mohbad AkA Imole born Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, unfortunately passed away untimely at age 27, under questionable circumstances.
Since the passing of Mohbad, Nigeria’s fallen angel and rap luminary, memories are being shared all over social media by Imole’s fans and loved ones alike. But the Prestigious and Global Awards Organization; Supreme Dynamic Talent Academy Awards, went above and beyond to honor Imole’s legacy with two Honorary Awards posthumously, they are (1) SUPREME AFRICAN STREET-HOP ARTIST OF THE YEAR
(2) SUPREME AFRICAN SONG OF THE YEAR - (BEAST & PEACE ), honored for the beauty of the song and also for the message contained in it and (3) an IMMORTALIZATION FOR IMOLE ‘SUPREME IMOLE ROOKIE STREET-HOP ARTISTE OF THE YEAR’- An annual Award category, named after Mohbad’s Other Moniker “Imole” which means light, aimed to honor and immortalize Mohbad forever by SDTA Awards.
Mohbad was best known for his hit songs "Ponmo," "Peace," "Beast and Peace," "Sorry", "Feel Good," "KPK (Ko Por Ke)" etc .
The Global and Prestigious Awards Organization, SDTA Awards hosted a private event at the plush, D’avenue Boutique hotel where they unveiled a specially-curated angelic art with Mohbad’s Face on it and a halo etched above his head, which would be engraved on Mohbad’s Immortalized plaque for the SUPREME IMOLE ROOKIE STREET-HOP ARTISTE OF THE YEAR, Award. The one piece artwork immortalizes Mohbad’s short-yet-prolific legacy and his undeniable impact on Street-hop as a beacon.
In attendance of the press launch and unveil includes Diplomats and industry players namely; H.E Maher Kheir , the Lebanon Ambassador to Ghana, Actor, Prince David Osei - the Brand Ambassador of SDTA AWARDS, Actor Fred Amugi, Film Producer - Enoch Attakorah, Music Producer - Mix Master Garzy, Film Producer & C.E.O of Venus Films - Abdul Salam Mumuni, Global envoy for International Youth Network for United Nations Security Council Resolution 2250 - HRH Prof. Dr Cheaib, Actress Akumaa Mama Zimbi, Cameroonian Musician - Naomi Achu, who flew in from the United States, the chairperson of SDTA Awards - Hon. Zino Lexili Ogazi, etc.
IMMORTALIZATION OF IMOLE will Live On Forever, it pays homage to Mohbad’s Unshakable and Unbreakable Confidence In his Art, while illustrating the true street hop icon, brother, father, friend, son and hero he was to many.
SDTA AWARDS believes that this allows for the acknowledgement and celebration of his commitment to his Career prior to his untimely death and may provide solace for a grieving community.
This touching tribute is due to the shocking untimely tragic demise of Mohbad, who in his lifetime earned the nickname of “IMOLE“, he was truly a light in the music industry. A loss, which is a huge blow for the Nigerian music industry and Africa by extension. Street-Hop lost a True Icon.
He was scheduled to receive his award nomination and approval letter for the SUPREME AFRICAN STREET-HOP ARTIST OF THE YEAR, after the press launch of SDTA Awards 2023, had untimely death not intervened, thus the Posthumous award was initiated with an addition of the Immortalization and SUPREME AFRICAN SONG OF THE YEAR as approved by the SDTA AWARDS Board of Directors, Advisory Board and the Academy.
Mohbad’s music and his voice was Nulli Secundus, his footprints in the sands of the Nigerian & African music would be hard to fill. The music scene will miss him; he was very relevant to the society not only for the beauty of his songs but also for the message contained in them.
His lyrics paints a vivid picture of the harsh realities faced by young artists in some Record labels, who are treated unjustly by their Label, the realities faced by those living in urban environments & he also shedded light on the social issues & injustices that often go unnoticed in Nigeria.
Mohbad also addressed themes such as
Bullying, which he was a victim of, Poverty, Violence, Police brutality, Betrayal & the lack of Opportunities faced by inner-city communities in Nigeria.
“Mohbad showed talent supremacy through his music, which showcases His peculiar style & supreme storytelling skills, his powerful & thought-provoking songs delves into the realities & struggles of life in the streets & the dark side of the music industry.
With the conferring of the triple Honor, We are tremendously pleased to be afforded this opportunity to again publicly salute the invaluable contributions of this great son of the African soil and extend to his family, Friends, and Fans, our sincere condolences once again.
The both posthumous awards will therefore be presented to the appropriate survivors, representatives or management of the the late Mohbad.

Mohbad always came to life on the performance stage, bringing a unique energy and vibe through his beautiful songs & dance, celebrating Street hop Urban culture especially. He is most certainly remembered for all his deep rooted meaningful songs, his infectious smiles & unique Voice too, he surely will be missed!
The Global outcry from both young and old due to his passing, is testament to the monumental impact that he had on all of our lives, and even those who only had the chance to see the extent of this greatness after his death. Mohbad’s untimely tragic death is one that cuts a little deeper.
In passing, Mohbad has also passed on the baton, and in this spirit, we must continue to shine our light even brighter with the same intensity and purpose which will become Mohbad’s immortalised legacy for generations to come. Mohbad’s light shone across the world. His life is a testament that his purpose was fulfilled.
