The Director-General of Police in charge of Research and Planning, COP Nathan Kofi Boakye has dropped a hint of how another part of the internet known as deep web is used in trading human parts.
Whereas he acknowledges the advantages of technology, he observed that the negative aspect of it is becoming a major challenge in the fight against crime citing deep web as an example.
“With all its benefits and advantages, it has also brought unknown threats and unpredicted challenges that if we don’t take time, we may not be able to deal with it. As I am speaking now apart from the internet…apart from the normal web we have, we now have what we call deep web. How many people even know about deep web? Deep web is where now they sell body parts. Those who can connect and go to the deep web that is where they sell everything that you can think of. It is problematic even for the developed nations”, he disclosed while addressing the Association of Women Accountants of Ghana (AWAG) in Tamale covered by MyNewsGh.com recently.
The Police Chief underscored the significance of technology in the fight against crime but stated that the emerging threats are enormous explaining of how easy it has become as a result of technology in present times.
“Crime has become easy to commit, the perpetrators have become sophisticated whilst the society is not matching up with the sophisticated nature of the criminals, therefore, the challenges”, he stated.
