Spio-Garbrah picks NDC presidential nomination form today
Mr Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, has decided to pick the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential nomination form today following the reduction of the filing fee from GHc400,000 to GHc300,000.
He is scheduled to pick the form himself at the NDC headquarters at Adabraka in Accra at 1pm.
Mr Spio-Garbrah declined to pick the party's nomination form last Tuesday, which was the deadline for the picking of the forms, due to the high cost of the filing fee of GHc400,000.
He was one of the flag bearer aspirants who had petitioned the Council of Elders of the NDC to intervene and get the filing fee slashed down. Although, a few of the aspirants who had signed the petition had had people pick the forms on their behalf, Dr Spio-Garbrah declined to pick the forms.
He told journalists last Tuesday that he took the risk of declining to pick the form as a matter of principle.
At the close of nominations on Tuesday, five persons were known to have picked the forms or had had forms picked in their names; ex-President John Mahama, Prof. Joshua Alabi, Electrician Stephen Atubiga, Alban Bagbin, and Sylvester Mensah.
The likes of Mr Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, Mr Elipklim Agbemava, Mr Nurudeen Idrissu, Mr Kojo Bonsu, Mr Goosie Tanoh, Mr Kweku Rickets Hagan and Mr David Dotsey Kwami Kuwadah failed to pick up the nominations forms, with some of them saying they would not be part of the election if the fee was not reviewed downwards.
