Standard Chartered marks International Day of Women and Girls in Science with a special mentoring and robotics session for young girls

Selected girls from the Islamic Training Institute and Al Waleed Comprehensive Basic School, under the Islamic Education Unit, Accra, have participated in a mentoring and robotics session.

This initiative was held to mark International Day of Women and Girls in Science with staff from Standard Chartered Bank Ghana PLC volunteering to mentor the young girls during the session.

This forms part of efforts to empower young girls in line with the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) agenda.

The girls were taken through how robots are assembled and motioned. The second session was used to mentor the girls on achieving their goals.

Ayeley Commodore Mensah of the Right to Dream Academy took the girls through the robotics session and was assisted by Farouk Osman of the Islamic Education Unit. Mr. Farouk Osman expressed appreciation to Standard Chartered for the session and partnership.

We will continue to focus on supporting them to scale the constraints imposed on them by culture, society, or gender stereotypes. The programme was held at the ICT Centre of the Islamic Education Unit.
