Tepa-Ashanti, March 30, GNA - Members of Ahafo-Ano North District branch of Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) have appealed to government for a review of the tax on teachers' salary. In addition, they appealed to government to connect all schools with electricity to make the teaching of Information Communication Technology (ICT) more effective.

The appeal was made in a resolution adopted at the end of their Third Quadrennial Delegates' Conference held at Tepa-Ashanti. It was under the theme "Teacher as a Pivot of National Development, Professional and Economic Challenges".

They said processing of "Teachers Mutual Fund Loans/Benefits" should be decentralized to ensure prompt payment to applicants. Nana Frank Agyedabi, Headmaster of Men Model Basic School, reminded teachers about the need to lead exemplary lives worthy of emulation.

He said they should not be shining example in physical appearance, reliability and honesty only to their pupils but the community. Nana Agyedabi urged teachers to accept postings to deprived communities.

Mr George Gyimah, Ahafo-Ano North District Secretary of GNAT, urged them to avoid acts of indiscipline and show total commitment to duty, to help improve image of the profession.
