Toronto Ghanaian community cleans up parts of the city

Ghanaians living in the largest commercial city of Canada, Toronto, teamed up with the City of Toronto to clean up some parts of the city, specifically the Chalkfarm Park area which houses a lot of immigrants on May 4, 2019.

This effort at cleanliness is a collaboration between the Ghanaian Canadian Association of Ontario (GCAO).

It’s part of the activities lined up in recent times by the leadership of GCAO to promote the the formidable Ghanaian community in Canada as part of the cultural mosaic of Canada.

Speaking to participants at the Park, City Councillor Anthony Perruza, recounted his history as an immigrant child to Toronto with his parents from Italy.

He pointed out that the Italian community years back came together as one people to contribute to the well-being of the city.

His community can now pride itself in official city positions that members of the community are occupying in Toronto. He therefore praised and encouraged the Toronto Ghanaian community led by the GCAO Executives and the Ghana Consul General in Toronto for the impact they are making on the city of Toronto and promised to help the Ghanaian community to move forward.

The Consul General, Mr Thomas Seshie and the President of GCAO, Mr. Emmanuel Duodu took turns to thank the participants for their huge turnout.
