Suzzy Pinamang during her medical review in London
Suzzy Pinamang, a second-year student of Seventh-Day Adventist Senior High School who was tragically shot in the eye by a fellow student, has been cleared by doctors to fully resume school.
This follows her successful surgery in the United Kingdom earlier in 2025, which was fully sponsored by business mogul and philanthropist, Ibrahim Mahama.

In a new development, Ibrahim Mahama’s aide, Rafik Mahama, provided an update on Facebook on Wednesday, September 17, 2025.
He disclosed that Suzzy had undergone a medical review at the renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital in London between September 10 and 16, 2025, where the medical team confirmed that she is steadily making progress in her recovery.
“In their report, specialists at Moorfields noted that the young student has responded positively to treatment, showing significant improvements in her vision and overall healing.
"They, however, advised her to continue with routine check-ups and protective care to ensure long-term recovery,” he said.
Rafik further added, “Importantly, doctors have now cleared her to resume schooling, and plans are underway to enroll her in a new school with full support from the Ibrahim Mahama Global Foundation to aid her continued recovery.”
Suzzy on her part expressed her gratitude to the medical team and all who supported her journey, “This has not been an easy road, but I thank God for life and for the doctors who have given me hope again. I am also thankful to everyone who stood by me, especially Mr. Ibrahim Mahama, he’s truly God-sent, and to everyone who has supported me with prayers and kindness.”
She also extended appreciation to the Ghana High Commission in London for their consistent support throughout her treatment, as well as to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and Ambassador-in-situ and Chief of State Protocol, Gustav Kwaku Sefe Dovlo, who were instrumental in facilitating her treatment arrangements in the UK.
Eric Ezra, a world-renowned Consultant Vitreoretinal Surgeon specialising in complex eye trauma, has also been praised for his outstanding role in Suzzy’s successful treatment. Under his expert care, she has made remarkable progress, with her latest medical review confirming excellent results.
Rafik Mahama emphasised that Suzzy’s return to school will be fully supported by the Ibrahim Mahama Global Foundation.
In April 2025, Suzzy went partially blind after being shot in the eye by Bernard Amoabeng, a Form Two student who had allegedly brought a firearm to school. The weapon later became the subject of a heated debate among students, some of whom questioned whether it was real or not.
