The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has described day one of the voter registration exercise as unsatisfactory.

Deputy General Secretary of the party, Peter Boamah Otokunor says there were a number of issues they identified which the Electoral Commission (EC) must address with immediate effect before going ahead with the exercise.

He told Kwabena Agyapong on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm that the party discovered the serial numbers being generated on the cards were jumping and not following in an orderly manner.

This he stated will give room for manipulation of the register and undermine the integrity of the entire process.

The NDC he disclosed has drawn the attention of the EC to it and they have been told the system would be worked on by the EC’s technical team.

But he wants the matter to be addressed with urgency since it has the potency to create tension and agitations.

He also expressed worry over the breakdown of registration machines at some registration centres stating it delayed the exercise and prevented more Ghanaians from getting registered.

Mr. Otokunor said the NDC has been vindicated because when they raised these issues and said the timing for the exercise was wrong, they were attacked.

He further complained about the lack of social and physical distancing at some registration centres, saying we could have an escalation of our coronavirus cases.

Meanwhile, he says the interest Ghanaians have exhibited towards the registration shows they are ready to kick out the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) from office.
