Western Region wins Fetu Afahye basketball tournament

Cape Coast, Sept. 10, GNA - The Western Region basketball team beat their Greater Accra counterparts 49-48 to lift the 'Afahye Cup' in a tournament organized by the Central Region secretariat of the National Sports Council (NSC).
The tournament formed part of activities marking the celebration of the Fetu Afahye of the Chiefs and people of the Oguaa Traditional Area. Six teams made up of the Hoops based in Cape Coast, the University of Cape Coast, Cape Coast Polytechnic and After 7 from Accra, participated in the tournament.
In the final match between Greater Accra and Western Region, Greater Accra led 28-25 at half time. However on resumption of the second half, Western Region took control of the game and made the final scores of a narrow score of 49-48 in their favour.
Mr Beresford Amui, Central Regional Sports Development Officer presented the Cup to the winners.
