'You are responsible for unraveling the truth in slain Ahmed’s death' – Allotey tells gov't
Former Central Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Allotey Jacobs, has charged the government to unravel the truth behind the murder of investigative journalist, Ahmed Hussein-Suale.
According to Bernard Allotey Jacobs, the blame game surrounding Ahmed’s death will only compromise investigations into the murder.
Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem with Captain Smart, the NDC chairman said instead of trading accusations, politicians should rather help the police or advocate for the police service to get the needed resources to fight crime.
“This country should move forward; those who are in charge of investigating should be given that space. Enough of the blame games and the gossips. There is more for us to do as politicians. Let’s help the police to get the needed resources to fight criminal activities,” he asked.
He has also urged the police to intensify security in the community where the murder took place because the incident could spark panic among residents, noting that Ghana was getting close to the situation where professional assassins freely operate.
The lead investigative journalist with Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ Tiger Eye PI was assassinated on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, at Madina in the Greater Accra region.
He was shot three times – twice in the chest and once in the neck.
The police have, in an update, said the former Ghana football boss, Kwesi Nyantakyi and Assin Central member of parliament, Kennedy Sgyapong have so far been questioned as part of investigations.
