We’ll deal with misguided separatists in Volta,

It would be a no brainer if Ghana could simply tell and show the people of Ghana and Western Togoland that there is a union agreement between the two countries, and the citizens of Western would quickly shut up. Unfortunately for the Ghanaians, no government of Ghana, including that of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah can provide a shred of evidence of a union agreement between Ghana and Western Togoland before and after the independence of the Gold Coast colony. Even Ghana's former colonial masters, the United Kingdom, can't provide any evidence of a union agreement between Ghana and the UN trust territory Togoland under British administration.
So, what, then, is the status of Western Togoland (Togoland under British administration) in the construct called Ghana? A union member? How can anyone become a member of a union without agreeing to the terms to that union?
Some cynical Ghanaians, and many unsuspecting citizens of Western Togoland would say, "look, there was a plebiscite, and 58% of Western Togolanders voted for a union with independent Gold Coast, so what is the fuss?"
The "fuss" lies in the fact that the 1956 plebiscite was not a union agreement between the Gold Coast and Western Togoland (UN Trust Territory Togoland under British administration). Western Togoland at the time was not under Gold Coast administration. And the UN in UN Resolution 1044 (XI) formally "requests the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to notify the Secretary General AS SOON AS THE UNION OF THE TERRITORY OF TOGOLAND UNDER BRITISH ADMINISTRATION AND INDEPENDENT GOLD COAST HAS BEEN EFFECTED" (emphasized by me). This is international, formal English.
So fellow Ghanaians, including government officials and security operatives:
a)WHEN WAS THE UNION BETWEEN INDEPENDENT GOLD COAST AND TOGOLAND UNDER BRISISH ADMINISTRATION EFFECTED AS REQUESTED BY THE UNITED NATIONS?
b) WHO WERE THE SIGNATORIES FROM BOTH COUNTRIES TO THAT UNION AGREEMENT?
c) THE UNION WAS SUPPOSED TO BE AFFECTED UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF THE UNITED KINGDOM AND NORTHERN IRLAND. WHY THERE ARE NO OFFICIAL DOCUMENT DESCRIBING HOW THE UNION WAS EFFECTED? WAS IT DONE IN A "GENTLEMAN AGREEMENT? WHO FROM BOTH SIDES SHOOK HANDS TO SEAL THE AGREEMENT?
If in fact, there is no union agreement between the two countries, what right does the Ghana government have to literally persecute citizens of Western Togoland whom it labels as criminal, traitors, secessionists, when Ghana government and a section of Ghanaians reject the principle of a union agreement between the two sister territories, although one party had already voted by a majority to enter into a union with the other party?
Does that mean that Ghana is not interested in a UNION? Then why not state this clearly?
In that case, those in Western Togoland who want to separate from Ghana and form an independent country are in their rights.
Even in a formal marriage, a spouse has the right to separate from an abusive bully partner.
