This shouldn't be a question; a pregnant lady should be allowed at cost to graduate. As long as the pregnant lady believes that she could take the exams, it shouldn't be anybody damn business to tell her what she should do or not.
I believe the said law was made to help pregnant women to come back to finish their education but not to punish them per se. Why did they change Winneba Teaching College to University. I believe it was meant to help certificate A teachers to upgrade themselves to help their students. So are they telling us that when a 35 yr old female enters into the training, she should not have sex or baby until she finishes with her course?
But that is what you get when you pick someone like Ablakwa to be a deputy Minister. The Minister and his deputy should have known that such law exist and should have cancelled it their very first day in office. Unfortunately, we are always putting square pegs in round holes.
Yes, the Minister of Education should abolish that stupid law.

A pregnant woman is driving down the street and gets into a fender bender, and is out cold for a week. When she awakens, she realizes that she is no longer pregnant.
"What happened to my baby!" she frantically asks the doctor.
"Ma'am, you had twins!" the doctor replies. " A healthy boy and a girl. Your Uncle Jack came in and named them."
"Oh no, the woman says. "Not Uncle Jack! He's an idiot!"
She asks the doctor, "Well, what's the girl's name?"
"Denise."
"Wow," the woman says, "that's not such a bad name--I like it! What's the boy's name?"
"Denephew."

How do they get pregnant? Is their priority on training or procreation? One at a time. For those who are advocating for them to be permitted... "Should sexual intercourse also be permitted among all Trainees?" How can pregnant trainees cope with training and focused ANC without compromising one? We should as well advocate for pregnant recruits (military, police, prison...etc) to complete their training too. Getting pregnant during training is an act of indiscipline!!!

Being pregnant is a 'life choice' by the students and they are aware of the consequencies so they should be barred from taking the exams if that is what the law says. If they (as future teachers) cannot be disciplined enough to use protection during their sexual escapades or keep their libido in control for until they graduate then I totally agree that they should not be given the opportunity to take the exams.

Expulsion from sitting exams just because a woman is pregnant is primitive, outmoded, outdated and a complete nonsense!! By the way, should the man who made the lady pregnant (who might well be a fellow student also taking the same exams or a tutor involved in conducting that very exam) be allowed to partake of any exams too?
When will our educational authorities realise that such violations of the rights of individuals in this manner is wholly unacceptable.
Indeed I have recently had pregnant students taking undergraduate exams in my department and the faculty had absolutely no QUALMS ABOUT THEM TAKING EXAMS!!! I have had to call am ambulance to take a student taking exams and experiencing an acute asthmatic attack. Should we have excluded her because she was a known asthmatic? By the way after receiving treatment at the hospital, she was well enough to sit for and compete her next exam.
The educational authorities in Ghana need to be confronted in a serious manner about what they deem a matter of discipline but in the 21st century is tantamount to abuse of their authority and a violation of the right of the individual. the minister for Children, Gender and Social Welfare should take this matter up in my view.

Those are some of the reasons why we find ourselves where we are after 56 yrs of independence as globe trotter beggar nation.B'cos we have a lot of academically qualified(degrees) CE/Officers and Heads of Institutions who refuse to think about issues and therefore relegate reasons and common sense to the backckground. They're there just to receive salaries at the end of the month devoid of plans for the way forward for the corporate entity or Institution which he/she was/is the head.
Therefore,we should not always give the Chance to the one who holds the higher academic qualifications. For intance, you don't need to be a Police officer before you could be appointed as IGP.It's an advantage though.Any honest, sincere, and experienced administrator could hold such positions.
And likewise, you don't need to be a medical Dr to be the CEO at hospital Center. And you don't need to have an Educational background to be the head of an Institution.
While some positions req
uire a professional in the subject with administrative experience, others need more of admin experience and knowledge of how the old ways work to make progressive and efficient changes to enhance the way forward. So it's should not always be,the higher the qualification the better. No.That's the reason why we have a lot of non performance PhD s. sorry guys.
