You see, the problem is that there was nothing wrong with what both of them said at all. Telling folks that you are sure of your chances of winning a case, or that you are innocent, does nothing to coerce the Court to rule in your favor.
None of those pronouncements was threatening to the Court. The NPP's reaction to President Mahama's harmless statement was unfortunate and much ado about nothing! I believe those who made a big deal out of it intended to jump on any little thing they could use to set a pre-verdict environment for rejecting the verdict in case it goes against the NPP.
But we could all be surprised by the final Verdict and need to wait patiently and prepare our minds to accept it in Peace.
Long live Ghana!!!

This article is no different from those preceding it, and by other folks, the Judges deem as playing people' s mind to get them to reject the Court's verdict even before it is given.
All along, there has been some news circulating around that Justice Atuguba is a NDC sympathizer, so some elements in NPP have targeted him for preemptive charge of bias against the petitioners.
The fact that he is the President of the SC makes him all the more important a target to destroy before the verdict is given. This particular article is impugning the Jurist's integrity to psychologically push him to react to the writer's favor.
As much we all hope that the truth rules in the end in this case, I strongly believe such articles and comments must cease for all to peacefully accept whatever verdict the Court gives.
For the writer to imply he understands the legal norms and practices surrounding the case better than the Jurist is not only egomaniacal but also insulting to the Court. I think the other members of the Court are there to help one another stay within the tenets of their duties and the Constitition and they are not some effeminate tokes who just sit there as spectators to feast their eyes on how Justice Atuguba directs the SC.
Meanwhile, it is worth noting that the writer rather is the one exhibiting certain ignorance, intentionally or otherwise, on the fact that any constraint on the Media could not be the sole order of Justice Atuguba's but a product of some consensus by the SC. It is therefore unfair for the writer to single out Atuguba for such deprecation.
The writer may think he is insulated from the cautionary order from the SC by the distance between where he lives, in the USA, and Ghana, and so he can pick up the hatchet dropped by the hacking Media in Ghana to continue thumbing his nose at the SC.
Well, he may find himself woken from a nightmare and still living its aftershock, if he continues to be that contemptible to the Court, even in absentia.
If we expect a fair verdict from the SC, and are committed to its peaceful acceptance, such attacks on the members of the Court must stop.
