We’re not bomb throwers – Mike Ocquaye

Dear Mr. Ocquaye, I do not know how old you are. But this bomb throwing thing, those of us who were 15 years and up were eye witness of the bomb throwing and bottle slashing in Kumase, Adansi, Assin area where we lived. And Kulungugu incident and many other atrocities of Mate Meho party as they were called were visible that I do not think that you can argue around it. As far as the founding of Ghana is concerned, the fact is that there was not a country named Ghana. And even Gold Coast only consisted of the costal area up to the boundary of River Pra. All the northern regions, Trans Volta Togoland, Asante and Brong Ahafo area were all not part of Gold Coast. It was Kwame Nkrumah who went around these areas (with exception of Trans Volta Togoland where plebiscite was held for them to determine their fate as to whether to be part of the new Ghana or not) to convince them to relinquish their sovereignty to be part of the newly formed Ghana. So Mike, I do not know where your argument lies. These kind of behavior is that is causing the county not to progress. Yes Dankwa and his group were agitating for the independence of the country but their approach could have landed us in the same of South Africa. Kwame's approach was the only one that got us the independence. And we should appreciate him.
