Defeated New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman, Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, has stated that he will take a break from politics soon.

According to him, despite his ‘shocking’ 66 votes in the just ended delegates’ conference held in Tamale, he is not in “pains” but need a rest.

“No, I am not in pains…I am very well. This is a job application and I offered myself. I was not accepted. I am disappointed, but I move on. I don’t feel like Jake is a human being who has been rejected, so there is no pain for me,” he said.

Speaking on Accra-based Adom FM, Jake vowed to work hand-in-hand with the newly elected Chairman, Paul Afoko to ensure the NPP’s success in the 2016 polls.

“I will work with him [Afoko] because the NPP is a major part of my life. If I don’t work with Paul Afoko who will I work with?” he questioned.

He added: “I am meeting with him [Paul Afoko] on Wednesday [16 April 2014] to have a chat and see if there is anything I can do”.

Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey also asked party supporters to rally behind the newly elected executives for victory in 2016 after most of his executives lost their re-election bid when delegates voted for Paul Afoko and other contenders to lead a new set of executives at the party’s conference on Saturday April 12.

Nonetheless, Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey hinted that he will take a break from politics.

“I am going to have a rest…going for a holiday to think about a whole lot of things including writing a book,” he said.
