Akwasi Appiah is granting stupid interviews as if he has something to offer. It is sad that an illiterate coach will hijack a national team for his personal interest. Only in Ghana that a coach is appointed before sending him for further training whilst there are qualified coaches doing nothing. God will punish all the criminals

Can you imagine? Keshi led Nigeria to win the AFCON trophy and was able to lead an arguably less endowed Super Eagles to the round of 16, yet has found it expedient and prudent enough to resign, while the failed Kwesi Appiah, who came 4th in the same AFCON and could not get Ghana out of our group at the WC amid total collapse and disgrace, has rather vowed to hold on to his post; what irony! Both Kwesi Appiah and Nyantakyi must leave the scene. We Ghanaians love our football and cannot allow Appiah to destroy it. What has Appiah contributed to Gh football anyway, from his days as Captain of the Stars to coach today, what has he gained? Somebody tell me please. Please don't tell me he won under 20, because we all know most of those guys were 25 on the average.

Some of us saw this coming. When Appiah dropped Dede from AFCON on a cooke up excuse and handed the 10 jersey to Adomah, of all players, and then later refused to call Sulley because Sulley 'apologised to GFA and Ghanaians, but not to he Appiah 'personally', then I realised we were in for trouble because we had appointed a vindictive person for a coach. His incompetence was revealed to us in that AFCON but he came back and arrogantly told us we should rather praise him because the team was a 'young' one so fourth position was ok.
When we said it on this platform, some people wanted to chop off our heads. The corrupt Kwesi Nyantakyi administration endorsed his incompetence and extended his contract. The rest is history.

When fail the way Kwasi Appiah did, it becomes the natural thing to do by resigning. And when you score an own goal the way John Boye did, you take yourself out of contention for a place in the national team. So over to you guys, resign or be forced out. Ghana cannot endure further humiliation at the world stage. And Dauda, what were thinking when you palmed the ball in Ronaldo's path? Did you think your were horsing around with your girlfriend? Surely, AA days are over. But he will never do the honourable thing by leaving his post unless he is pushed. But he will never be pushed by his corrupt employers; it is case of scratch my back and I will scratch yours. Certainly we didn't see so many GFA officials in Germany nor in South Africa in 2006 and 2010. In Brazil, it is clear the GFA and the former sports minister got an open cheque to enjoy themselves in Holland; Miami and Brazil. Now I know why some people are apprehensive about appointing local coaches for the Black Stars. Surely if there was a foreign coach, some of the confusion and ineptitude both on the field and off it would not have occurred. Akwasi Appiah has made history as the first Ghanaian coach unable qualify Ghana from the Group stage or even win a match. But if he has to go, he has to go along with his employers, because he will not do the honourable thing and resign nor would he be shown the door by his corrupt, unscrupulous and greedy employers. Ghana football is once again at a crossroad. A revolution is definitely needed to salvage the image of Ghana football.

I think we need neither a foreign nor a Ghanaian coach...we simply need a GOOD Coach. If that GOOD Coach happens to be a Ghanaian, so be it. The mistake we did was our quest for a Ghanaian Coach....So we went in for A GHANAIAN Coach, without actually assessing and considering that Ghanaian's capability to build and manage the team to achieve good results. Could we have gotten a better Ghanaian Coach? If the answer is YES, then let's look for that GOOD Ghanaian Coach. If there's none, then we look for a non-Ghanaian Coach that can give us results.
If you're a young man and you're bent on marrying a CHRISTIAN so you target only CRUSADES and ALL NIGHTS to look for your wife, you're likely to marry a CHRISTIAN instead of a GOOD WIFE. Any woman can be a CHRISTIAN but not all Christian women are GOOD WIVES (NB: I define a Christian here as someone who goes to Church on Sundays and attends all other Church programmes. That person is just a Christian)

Well buddy, if we made a mistake in our quest for a Ghanaian coach, do you think we should be making the same mistake again? And if you think that the appointment didn't take into account the capability and experience of the coach who do you think should be held responsible? Those who employed him. So logically they must leave the scene together. That's the best way forward.

You have a valid point: Those who employed the Coach must go...but I tell you, it's going to be a "tall order" to get anybody out...their "roots" are so deep "in the soil". These GFA guys think they are untouchable because FIFA strongly prohibits government interference in football administration. That's their "armour". AA has always had my unwavering support since 1992. I supported the idea of a local coach and supported his elevation from assistant to the BS coach job. It was about time we had a competent local coach.
He's had his chance and I'm disappointed that he's a failure on the job. I'm being very sincere about this. It's a tough choice to make but it's time for him to go. In competitive sports success is the only contract a coach can depend on.A grateful nation gave him the opportunity but now we know his leadership is weak and he is indecisive. He appears to be constantly looking over his shoulders and has never been his own man since he took the appointment .There were people who saw the signs early and argued against his appointment . Now it has become clear that the coach did not merit the job and is merely a pawn in the hands of the corrupt GFA. His technical decisions are suspect and often counter productive.
I still support the idea of having a local coach but we cannot afford to sacrifice competency, efficient management, decisiveness, independent mindedness toughness on the altar of a local boy. Who gets the job must bring a human face to the job. The players must see him as one of them but at the same time see him as their leader. He's got to stand by his players and always seek and if necessary fight for their welfare. If we can't find such a person locally then we must be prepared to look beyond our borders. The best coaches will cost us a lot of money but if they can deliver then we must put our money where our mouth is.
We must also embark on a "Catch Them Young" Sports Development Program if we want to have to succeed in sports especially football. In football size matters so we must begin scouting for more skillful but taller kids, feed them well and help build their muscles and stamina. Educated and smart kids are a great asset and I hope the talents we discover are opportuned to take some psychology classes. What we're doing now with the football academies is good but inadequate. I hope the Ministries of Education, and, Youth and Sports can come together and come up with a comprehensible and sustainable sports development program. We cannot continue with ad hoc, half hearted measures. Our nation loves sports and its a good thing. It unites our people more than politics and we should invest more of our resources into something worthwhile, something that's good for all of our people and brings us together than something like politics that divides us. I'm done.
