Nana Ogidigram Aseidu Kobina Botwe II, the Chief of Swedru, has commended officers and men of the Agona Swedru Divisional Police Command for their efforts at reducing crime in the area.

He said the Swedru Township was relatively calm now as far as armed robbery and other criminal activities were concerned.

“This is due to intensification of day and night patrols and barrier mounting at all four routes to Agona Swedru,” the Chief said.

Nana Ogidigram Botwe gave the commendation in a speech read on his behalf by Nana Esineni I, Nifahene of Agona Swedru, when security personnel at Swedru held their West Africa Security Services Activities (WASSA.

Nana Botwe, who is also Adontenhene of Nyakrom Traditional Area, said the police personnel posted to Agona Swedru Divisional Command had worked hard to bring peace and stability to the area.

The Swedruhene said the town was expanding fast and appealed to the Ghana Police Administration to open another police post at Pipe Tank and Woraba Estate to enable them to curb crime.

He expressed gratitude to the personnel of the Command for its dedication to duty and hard work and urged them to keep it up.

Nana Botwe appealed to the Inspector General of Police and the Police Administration to equip the Command with vehicles and other logistics to enable the officers to discharge their duties effectively.

Police Chief Superintendent, Mr Samuel Yankey, the Agona Swedru Divisional Commander, said through regular snap checks, barrier mounting and day and night patrols by the Police patrol teams, criminal activities had been brought to the barest minimum.

He said the Command consisted of Winneba, Mankrong-Junction, Agona Nyakrom, Agona Nsaba, and Agona Duakwa and that the District had become a better place to do business.

Chief Supt. Yankey called on the residents of the area to provide credible information about the criminals, adding that their identity would not be disclosed in order to help combat crime.

He warned that criminals who ventured into Swedru would face the wrath of the Police and assured residents that they were ready to respond to their calls.

He urged them to report suspicious characters to the Police for prompt action.
