Government is likely to file a motion at the Accra High court today to withdraw the liquidation petition set against the Ghana Football Association(GFA) following an agreement with the World football governing body, Fifa on August 16, 2018.

Per the agreement, Fifa in consultation with government and CAF is scheduled to set up a normalisation committee to run football in Ghana until the crisis is fully resolved.

It’s expected that the committee will work out a timetable and a roadmap to get new executives elected to form fresh Executive committee of the FA.

The future of Ghana Football was on the cusp following a 10-day ultimatum issued by FIFA to government on Monday to discontinue its petition to have the GFA dissolved, or face a ban from football. In FIFA’s view, the move constitutes “government interference”

But a Press release issued following a hurriedly arranged meeting with Fifa in Zurich stated that “the GoG shall take steps to discontinue the process for the winding up of the Ghana Football Association.”
