Former Deputy Information Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has taken a swipe at the government for churning out conflicting figures on the number of students that have benefited from the Free Senior High School initiative.

According to him, the confusion on the part of government on the actual number of beneficiaries of the programme is ample evidence of government attesting to the fact that the implementation of the system was rushed.

Speaking on Accra based Metro Television and monitored by MyNewsGh.com, Mr. Ablakwa pointed out that there have been three different occasions where President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has given conflicting figures to the Ghanaian people on the actual number of beneficiaries of the Free Senior High School (SHS) Programme.

In the estimation of the North Tongu Member of Parliament (MP) for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), the president and the New Patriotic Party government are still grappling with issues with regards to the implementation of the policy.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa is of the view that all the concerns raised by his party and some sections of the Ghanaian public prior to the role our out of the programme are still relevant and must be considered by the government.

Mr. Ablakwa who at some point also became the Deputy Minister of Education responsible for tertiary education wants president Akufo-Addo and his government to get back to the drawing board with the policy in order to help fix the challenges being faced as a result of the rollout of the policy.
