John Boadu is General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party
Reports suggesting the arrest of driver of General Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party, John Boadu over illegal mining activities is untrue.
This is according to a statement signed and issued by the Press Secretary and Speicial Aide of Mr. Boadu, Iddi Muhayu-Deen.

Mr. Boadu in the statement denied the claim and knowledge of one Mr. Evans Kwarfo, his supposed driver who was arrested for allegedly involving in illegal small scale mining and bribing of anti-galamsey task force.
‘Mr. John Boadu wishes to state emphatically and for the avoidance of doubt that, he has no driver by name, Evans Kwarfo. He has ONLY ONE DRIVER by name, KWAME AMO, who lives in Accra. Kwame Amo does not own a mining concession in the Ashanti Region or anywhere for that matter, and certainly, could not have been arrested for this offense as claimed in the Joy News reportage.’ The statement says

The attention of Mr. John Boadu, the NPP General Secretary, has been drawn to a reportage on joy tv, video of which has gone viral on social media, involving the arrest of one Evans Kwarfo, said to be involved in illegal small scale mining, who claimed to be the driver of the NPP chief scribe. He was also alleged to have attempted bribing the anti-galamsey task force, ostensibly to secure his freedom.
Mr. John Boadu wishes to state emphatically and for the avoidance of doubt that, he has no driver by name, Evans Kwarfo. He has ONLY ONE DRIVER by name, KWAME AMO, who lives in Accra. Kwame Amo does not own a mining concession in the Ashanti Region or anywhere for that matter, and certainly, could not have been arrested for this offense as claimed in the Joy News reportage.
It is expected of a responsible media house like Joy News, to crosscheck their facts before airing same, as required by the very ethics of the journalism profession. The failure by the station to contact the General Secretary, whom they have easy access to, for purposes of confirming the veracity or otherwise of the man’s claim can only be most disappointing and unfortunate.
Mr. John Boadu takes serious view of the matter, and while demanding a retraction and apology from Joy News, wishes to caution all persons using his name to perpetrate such criminal enterprise including extorting money from people, to, in their own interest, desist forthwith. Equally, members of the general public are being reminded to be wary of such persons and that, they entertain them at their own perils.
