3-time Ghana League champions AshantiGold SC welcome Ebusua Dwarfs to the Obuasi Len Clay Sports stadium on Sunday as part of the Game Week 7 activities in the 2019-2020 Ghana Premier League season.

After a splendid start to the campaign where they won their opening 3 games, Ashgold have failed to win any of their last three. The Miners have disappointingly picked up just a point from a possible nine. They will definitely look to bounce back to winning ways as they welcome Ebusua Dwarfs.

Dwarfs picked up their first win of the season during the last match week against Dreams FC at home. The slim margin victory ended a streak of 5 premier league matches without a win.

New Coach Ernest Thompson Quartey will be eager to build on this as the Crabs aim to avert the option of being relegation battlers early on in the season.

They however face a daunting task as they visit a ground most league teams dread.

The home side would also be buoyed by the fact that this will serve as a home debut for new coach Kasim Gökyildiz. The Turkish will be keen to get off to a flying start and arrest the club’s recent slump.

Certainly we are set for an exciting battle on the pitch but definitely Ashgold by virtue of playing at home should claim maximum points.

TEAM NEWS:

Ashgold will have Abdul Latif Anabila back after he missed the trip to Tarkwa against Medeama due to suspension. The midfielder’s availability will be great news for the Miners.

Versatile midfielder Appiah McCarthy is in line for first appearance this season. The 23 year old is ahead of schedule after suspicions injury could rule him out for close to 3 months.

The duo of Richard Osei Agyemang and Mark Agyekum will miss the game owing to injuries.

Ebusua Dwarfs coach Ernest Thompson will welcome back striker Osman Mohammed into the team as he looks to cause an upset at Obuasi. Boku Hayford once again misses out due to a lingering hamstring problem He is the only major absentee.

MATCH FACTS:

Ashgold have never lost a home game to Dwarfs since 2010. The Miners have recorded 4 wins and 2 draws in 6 games at the Len Clay against Dwarfs.

Dwarfs’ last visit to the Len Clay saw them handed a 3-0 beating. A brace from Richard Ocran and a goal from Hans Kwoffie completed the demotion exercise on Dwarfs with the game taking place in April 2017.

That 3-0 result was Ashgold’s first clean sheet against Dwarfs at home since 2010. They had gone 4 matches without a clean sheet prior to that.

Dwarfs are without an away win in the league since October 2017. They have lost all 3 away matches this season.
