2019 AYC: Black Satellites are determined to bring the trophy home - Maxwell Arthur
Deputy Captain of the Black Satellites, Maxwell Arthur says the team his determined as they go in search of the fourth trophy at the youth level.
The Black Satellites have joined 7 other teams to fight for the continental trophy in Niger. Coach Jimmy Cobblah and his troops have been pitted in Group B with Senegal, Burkina Faso and Mali.
The team currently based in Niamey have played series of friendlies to patch the rough edges before the tournament kicks off on February 3, have been boosted by the arrivals of captain Ishaku Konda and first choice goalkeeper Nurudeen Abdul Manaf.
According to versatile Dreams FC defender, Maxwell Arthur says preparations are going according to plan and they are fired up to win the trophy for Ghana.
"We are going to play our hearts out, our motive is to first qualify for the World Cup and second to win the tournament in Niger," Arthur told the Daily Graphic.
"Preparations have been good, we just need to play to instructions and do what our coaches have taught us.
''Whatever did not go well in the friendly games have been corrected and we are well equipped now."
"We have a great team full of talents and we are going with full determination to make Ghana and ourselves proud," he added
The Black Satellites are three times champions of the Africa Youth Championship and the only side from Africa to win the World Cup
The semi-finalist of the tournament will qualify for the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland as the CAF representatives.
