Barely 48 hours after powering now former club Orduspor to promotion from Turkey’s second tier league to the top flight, Jerry Akaminko sealed a switch to fellow Turkey Super league side Manisaspor. Akaminko says though he cherished every moment of his three year stint at Orduspor, it was time to move on especially after helping the Ordu club achieve a long cherished dream.

“All footballers want to move up and I am not excluded. I’m grateful to Orduspor and their wonderful fans for all the good times I had there but the time has come for me to move up. Manisa actually have been chasing me for a long time and I’m glad that I have been able to help Orduspor qualify to the Super League first,” Akaminko told All Sports from Turkey.

Founded in 1965, Manisaspor are a top side with massive experience in Turkey’s top league having remained serious top half challengers since earning promotion in 2005 and finished 10th in the just concluded season.

According to the club’s website after sealing the deal for Akaminko following successful medicals by the player last week, the Ghanaian has been on their radar for some time and they are very glad to have finally landed the rugged defender.

The former Heart of Lions captain is also looking forward to next season when he has promised to shine in the red, white and black of Manisaspor and make the Manisa 19 Mavis Stadi venue his home.

“I am glad and ready for this new phase of my career. It will be tough to adjust to a new club and a new city but I am strong ad experienced enough to cope. I am fired up, I can’t wait for next season,” Akaminko said.
