Asante Kotoko coach CK Akonnor has revealed taking a huge risk in accepting the coaching job of AshGold barely two years ago.
The former Black Stars skipper revealed many people were shocked about his decision to take the Aboakese job when they were on the verge of being relegated.
AshantiGold were fighting to survive in the Ghana Premier League and with the sacking of Bashir Hayford, C K Akonnor took over the job and helped them to survive in the Ghanaian topflight.
The decision came as a surprise to many people who felt Akonnor shouldn’t have left his role at Dreams FC to accept the AshGold job.
“When I went to AshGold, it was inhuman. But like I said, if you really want to do it at the highest level you have to take risk.”
“Accepting the job was a huge risk because I could have easily failed and it will be on my CV that I went there and I didn’t do well,” he noted.
Akonnor stupendously guided AshGold out of the relegation fight in his first season, and catapulted them to second spot on the table the next season before ending his marriage with the Miners.
