Beach Soccer club sold to Ghanaian investor

A new chapter has been opened in the ongoing development of Ghana's fastest growing sport, beach soccer.

One of the emerging clubs in the championship, East Legon Sharks has been bought by a private investor for GHS 90,000.

The change of name from East Legon Sharks to Sea Lions is expected to be concluded on Friday 8th of May 2015 when full ownership of the East Legon based club is transferred to the buyer only known as Mr. K.

Current CEO of East Legon Sharks, Gyamfi Kusi Awere confirmed the change of ownership to KYZZ FM.

"This is a good sign for beach soccer as we are facing multiple challenges. The new owner has assured me that he will make the club number one and win the league title by the second year".

Mr. Kusi Awere who is also the protocol officer of the national beach soccer team, the Black Sharks, stressed however that he will continue to work for beach soccer in Ghana.

For now it is uncertain whether the other clubs who are struggling will also be looking for new owners.

The East Legon club boasts of the goal king from the just ended CAF Beach Soccer Nations Cup in Seychelles, Alexander Adjei, as well as outstanding defender Harold Acquaye.

Black Sharks head coach Daniel Kottey Neequaye is also the coach for East Legon Sharks.

Meanwhile, the date for the commencement of the 2015 championship and division 1 leagues would be announced next week.
