Chelsea Replies GFA
The growing feud between Ghana?s football governing authority and English side, Chelsea, appears to be thawing.
Over the weekend the English Premiership champions proposed a package aimed at enhancing cooperation between the two football entities.
Only 48 hours after the Executive Committee of the FA sent a strongly-worded letter baring its misgivings about the posturing of Jose Mourinho and Chelsea in the handling of Ghana?s request for the services of midfield ace Michael Essien, the management of Chelsea has replied Ghana?s letter, calling for a truce.
Ghana?s protest to Chelsea which was the fall-out of the inaugural meeting of the newly elected-Executive Committee which set on its agenda the Black Stars ill-fated Nations Cup campaign in Egypt demanded answers to the failure of Chelsea to release Essien to feature for the nation in the tournament.
Besides, the FA also demanded from the English side an authentic medical report on the player regarding his injury weeks before the Nations Cup to prove whether the player was not really fit as stated in the fax sent to Ghana by Coach Mourinho.
The contents of the letter as stumbled upon by the Graphic Sports revealed that Chelsea has dramatically pulled out of what was developing into a war with their Ghanaian counterparts and insisted on a healthy relationship between them in the interest of Essien and in the larger interest of Ghanan football.
In furtherance to this objective, Chelsea is calling for the two to explore other opportunities to iron out their differences and calling on Ghana to forget the unfortunate past.
Chelsea according to the letter have accepted responsibility for the hiccup that inhibited the player in his quest to make an appearance at the Nations Cup.
Key among the package proposed by the English side is the creation of opportunities for Ghanaian Coaches to have attachments and outreach courses to upgrade their horizon.
Even though as at the time of going to press the FA was yet to give it?s official response to the letter,it is clear from the reaction of most Executive Committee members that the Ghana soccer governing body will extend a reciprocal hand to the Chelsea gesture.
