The first confirmed case of Coronavirus in the Upper East Region is a pregnant woman stationed in the regional capital Bolgatanga with her family.

The case brings Ghana’s total of confirmed cases of the virus to 205 up from 204 on Thursday.

Confirming this on Starr Today, the Upper East Regional Minister Paulina Tangoba Abayage indicated that the patient had recently travelled into the region after a trip to Takwa in the Western region with a cough.

Her samples were taken after she visited the hospital with symptoms and got tested positive for COVID-19.

Mrs Tangoba Abayage disclosed that the patient’s house has been cordoned off and processes for contact-tracing kick-started.

This brings the number of regions that have recorded cases to six and the national tally to 205 with the Greater Accra still holding the majority of cases.
